Rules for the 2008 Season

  1. Two twenty-minute halves will be played with a running clock. The clock will be stopped only during time-outs or after a technical foul has occurred. During the last minute of the first half and the last two minutes of the second half, the clock will stop during dead balls. Overtime periods will be 3 minutes long, with the last minute using stop time.

  2. Teams are allowed 2 time-outs per half (60 seconds each). Players may call time-outs on dead ball situations or when their team is in possession of the ball. There will be no accumulation of unused time-outs during regulation. Overtime period – each team receives one timeout.

  3. No game will start with less than four players per team. The game will be forfeited to the opposing team if players foul out and only three players are eligible to continue the game. Games must start on time! Any team not on the floor with at least 4 eligible players can pick-up a player that is not already on another team roster to start the game, only if agreed upon by the other team captain.

  4. Players will call their own fouls. Any questionable calls will be decided by the scorekeeper.

  5. Free throws are shot the last minute of the first half and the last 2 minutes of the second half, the clock will stop during this time. There will be an automatic 2 shots given for all fouls except for a 3-point shot which will be given 3 free throw attempts. Two free throws and possession of the ball will be awarded on any intentional flagrant foul throughout the entire game. If any team is ahead by 20 or more points, the clock will run continuously during free throws. A free throw will be awarded on a made basket if a foul is called on a shot and the shot is good.

  6. Each player is allowed 6 fouls per game. On the 6th foul the player is out of the game.

  7. LOUD ABUSIVE LANGUAGE IS NOT TOLERATED. Technical fouls will be given to any player/team swearing audibly determined by the scorekeeper. The opposing team shoots two free throws and retains possession of the ball. Any player receiving a 2nd “T” will be out of that game and asked to leave the gym for the night.

  8. Unsportsmanlike conduct – flagrant fouls will result in a technical foul per offending player and an automatic suspension/ejection of the offending players. Suspension will be a minimum of the next scheduled game.
