Fitness Center Manager

Job summary

Five Points Washington is a 143,000 sq./ft facility that houses a fitness center, family leisure and 8 lane competition pools, 1,020 seat auditorium, banquet facility, meeting rooms, senior center, and library.   As an essential member of the Center’s leadership team, the Fitness Manager will be responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance and supervision of a comprehensive fitness and personal training program, fee-based programming, in addition to, ensuring a safe environment, keeping a variety of well-maintained equipment, and providing a high level of customer service.

Summary of essential job functions

Under the supervision of the General Manger of the Center the Fitness Manager will be responsible for:

  • Leading, training and developing a team of personal trainers- Increasing personal training revenue and profitability through managing sales,
  • performance and quality of the personal training experience.
  • Driving the educational development of staff and help facilitate the latest
  • industry trends.
  • Developing a group exercise program that services all ages and ranges of
  • physical fitness.
  • Maintaining equipment on a daily basis and oversight of preventive
  • maintenance.
  • Maintain accounting records for all the areas supervised.
  • Budget, preparation, implementation and management.
  • Coordination of financial resources for areas supervised including cost control
  • and revenue strategies.
  • Annual and long-range programming strategies.
  • Interviewing, hiring, training, and evaluation of part time employees
  • Preparing and submitting records and reports including attendance, customer
  • satisfaction, payroll, activity schedules and others as requested.
  • Preparing written reports and making presentations to the governing board
  • and other groups as assigned.
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements

Minimum qualifications include:  a 4-year degree in Exercise Physiology, Physical Education, Exercise Science, Athletic Training or related field; 2 years experience in like field; ACE, ACSM, Cooper or AFFA certified; supervisory experience and budgeting experience.  Although a degree is preferred, consideration will be given to candidates with extensive experience in a like position with similar duties and responsibilities.

Aquatics Center Manager

Job summary

Five Points Washington is a 143,000 sq/ft facility that houses a fitness center, family leisure and 8 lane competition pools, 1,020 seat auditorium, banquet facility, meeting rooms, senior center, and library.   As an essential member of the Center’s leadership team, the Aquatics Manager will be responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance and supervision of a comprehensive aquatics program to include competitive programming, Group Aquatic classes, swim lessons and fee based programming in addition to providing quality lifeguard coverage, ensuring a safe pool environment and a high level of customer service.

Summary of essential job functions

Under the supervision of the General Manger of the Center the Aquatics Manager will be responsible for:

  • Planning, organizing, promoting, coordinating schedules, and supervising
  • aquatic programming for Five Points Washington.
  • Developing and enforcing aquatics program policies, procedures, training and
  • safety standards.
  • Development of special aquatic programs and events to expand member and
  • non-member involvement and enhance revenue.
  • Assuring that all staff are properly trained and certified in lifesaving, water
  • safety and emergency medical response.
  • Development of in-house training and recruitment programs to maintain
  • adequate staffing and qualified lifeguards.
  • Maintaining all required documents and records related to program activities,
  • in-house training, and certification program.
  • Measuring customer satisfaction and initiating actions to continuously improve.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with staff, members, the public and key
  • community organizations.
  • Budget, preparation, implementation and management to maintain the fiscal
  • integrity of the department.
  • Annual and long-range programming strategies.

Special Events Assistant – Part time position (20-25 hours/week)

Job summary

The Washington Area Community Center is a 143,000 sq/ft facility that houses a fitness center, family leisure and 8 lane competition pools, 1,020 seat auditorium, banquet facility, meeting rooms, senior center, and library.   As an essential member of the Center’s team, the Special Events Assistant will assist and support the Event Venue Manager in the day to day task of the Special Events department.

Summary of essential job functions

Under the supervision of the Event Venue Manager of the Center, the Special Events Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Handle clients’ inquiries over the telephone and in person; Tours of the facility
  • for interested guests
  • Assisting with room layouts
  • Invoicing for rentals; billing customers and guests
  • Provide extensive support in event execution
  • Ordering and purchases orders
  • Auditing the banquet rooms calendar
  • Filing
  • Assisting with the ticking system
  • Contracts and certificates of insurance
  • Special events and liquor licensing needs
  • Performing all other duties as assigned.

Minimum requirements

Minimum qualifications include:  Proven administrative skills and experience, Prior experience planning events preferred, Strong customer service orientation, Excellent team building and interpersonal skills, Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

Male Part-time Custodian

Male part-time custodian needed for Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday evenings. Must be 18 years of age and previous custodial experience required.

Event Bartender
We are currently seeking experienced bartenders to help with special events at Five Points.  The position requires weekend and evening hours. You must be able to stand for a long period of time and have great customer service skills.  You also need to know how to mix drinks and work with the public.

You must 21 years and older to apply for this position.
Prior experience preferred.

  • Four-year Exercise Science or related degree preferred

  • Willing to work a minimum of 20 hours per week

Female Custodian

Female custodian needed for morning hours during the week and possible weekends. Must be 18 years of age and previous custodial experience required.

Competitive wages and free fitness membership for employees that work 10+ hours per week. This position will total 25 hours a week.

Special Events Set Up & Tear Down Personnel

Unique position that provides flexible schedule.  Set up in our event center at Five Points entails: loading in and setting banquet tables and chairs, dance floor, and any other items requested. Set-Up is done in the day or evening hours prior to event day.
Tear- Down is in the late evening after event on weekends or morning depending on the day.
